Speaking For The Trees
In this week’s newsletter, we check on the state of Ocean Avenue's urban canopy and more.
A free shuttle will take craft beer enthusiasts from bar to bar for fresh brews and smoky meals.
SF Beer Week is back in the neighborhood.
After skipping a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, five bars and restaurants in the Ingleside, Excelsior and Outer Mission are teaming up to put on the South-End Smokeout Shuttle.
A free hop-on hop-off shuttle will take participants to The Dark Horse Inn, The Broken Record, Recovery Room, Gentilly and Ocean Ale House. All venues will serve a smoked dish and have special brews on tap for SF Beer Week. Each will also offer a beer on draught from Firestone Walker.
“In the past, it used to just be us, Ocean Ale House and [Ferment Drink Repeat],” Dark Horse Inn owner Sean Ingram told The Ingleside Light. “We did it I think twice before, so this is kind of the third one, but since FDR is no longer in business, we decided to get everyone involved in this neighborhood also.”
The event is produced in partnership between the Excelsior Action Group, the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development and the Excelsior Outer Mission Merchants.
“We’re not to be overlooked out here,” Ingram said. “You know, this neighborhood has everything to offer.”
SF Beer Week, California’s annual celebration of the craft beer movement, runs from Feb. 11 to Feb. 20. It’s a production of the nonprofit Bay Area Brewers Guild.
