After nearly 20 years working as a nail tech, Nu Le felt it was finally time to open a place of her own.
Le took over Jolie Elegant Spa, on Ocean Avenue near Miramar, and launched her own New Elegant Spa late last month.
Le is also passionate about nail art and has helped clients craft unique designs from clouds, cheetah print and groovy lines to themed nail sets like Halloween gore, abstract themes and more.
“She’s passionate in this field,” Quynh Nguyen, a friend and customer of Le’s said. “She did a lot of artwork on nails. She feels like it’s a good time for her to open her own shop and do her passion.”
Le, who is originally from Vietnam, also had Nguyen help translate during part of the interview.
The vibrant shop has three well-cushioned pedicure stations, three manicure desks and a shelf cabinet filled with a rainbow gradient of nail polishes along with a seating area for clients.
Services at New Elegant Spa include manicures starting at $22 and pedicures that start at $35 with the option to include an extra 15-minute massage for $10. Additional services include nail art design for $8, eyebrow and lip wax for $15 and chin waxing for $16. They are also offering a 20% discount until the end of June.
“I hope all the locals here will shop local and have their nails done here,” Nguyen said. “At least, now, they have a nail salon here and don’t have to drive all the way to downtown because we have an artist here.”
