Speaking For The Trees
In this week’s newsletter, we check on the state of Ocean Avenue's urban canopy and more.
Ingleside's annual turkey drive continues virtually with four live performances this Saturday.
Singer-songwriters, a jazz band and good cheer will be had on Saturday at the second part of the ninth annual SF Turkey Drive.
Usually held in the St. Emydius parking lot, the drive pivoted online for 2020.
“As in previous years, 100% of all donations are going to our beneficiary organization, the St Anthony Foundation, which prepares about 2,600 warm meals daily for the homeless and poor families in San Francisco,” organizer Pierre Smit stated. “Instead of collecting turkeys in our parking lot, we are collecting virtual turkeys online at SFTurkeyDrive.com until Christmas.”
To amp up the cheer, Smit lined up four musical groups to perform.
Patricia and James McDonald along with their two daughters will sing Christmas songs, Ingleside legend Johnny “El Guajiro” Escobedo will perform live Cuban music, the jazz group Lehcats will perform live from New York and keyboardist Ray Abinanti will lead a sing along.
