San Francisco Police officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Ingleside in connection to a homicide that occurred last month at a Mission District gambling den, police announced today.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, police investigators with assistance from the tactical and specialist team searched the residence of Hin Hoang, 43, on the 100 block of Harold Avenue. Investigators seized evidence and arrested Hoang.

Hoang was taken to county jail on a single homicide charge.

Hoang is accused in the shooting death of 36-year-old Dacari Spiers, a San Francisco resident who was at the center of a police brutality trial in 2019. The incidents unfolded in a gambling den in the Mission District off of Wiese Street.

Police rendered aid and medics transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Spiers was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The investigation remains open. The police request anyone with information call the SFPD 24-hour Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD.
