Three conceptual designs will be shared with the public this spring after a delay of many months.
The San Francisco County Transportation Authority announced the Brotherhood Way Safety and Circulation Plan will advance this spring with the release of conceptual designs for public feedback.
The SFCTA study team said they developed three alternative concepts to address concerns heard from the first round of outreach and will present them sometime this spring.
The study, delayed last year, will develop near- and long-term improvements to street safety and connectivity on Brotherhood Way and surrounding neighborhoods. It emerged as a recommendation from the city's ConnectSF Streets and Freeways Strategy, a long-term planning effort of multiple government agencies to develop an effective, equitable and sustainable transportation system.
“Over the last few months, we have been conducting technical evaluations to ensure that the concepts advance study goals and that we can clearly articulate benefits and tradeoffs of the various alternatives in our next round of outreach,” according to a notice from SFCTA spokesperson Daniela Ribela.
Stephen Chun, the authority’s spokesperson, said following outreach this spring, staff will use the feedback to refine the three concepts into two final alternative concepts, which could include a mix of different elements from the three concepts. A third round of outreach will take place in the winter on the two final alternatives to help identify a recommendation.
It’s unclear when an advisory committee composed of community stakeholders is supposed to be convened to help guide the project.
