Here's Supervisor Myrna Melgar's Plans For Ingleside In Her Second Term
From more public celebrations to housing initiatives, Melgar plans to stay the course over the next four years.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will conduct outreach and develop preliminary plans for the highly trafficked intersection.
Recently awarded funds will allow a long-simmering traffic safety project to advance.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is working on a quick-build project at the Brotherhood Way and Alemany Boulevard improvement project.
SFMTA spokesperson Michael Roccaforte said the project is expected to include flashing beacons, painted safety zones, daylighting and other features that the community will help determine through outreach. The agency anticipates to complete the quick-build elements by late 2025 or early 2026.
Last December, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority approved $550,000 of Transporation Network Company tax funds to support the SFMTA’s near-term improvements.
At the same time, Roccaforte said that the SFMTA is working on longer-term improvements, including traffic signals and larger changes to the intersection, to reduce the overall size of the area.
The traffic improvements could support access to the new Ocean View Branch Library at 100 Orizba Ave. if the San Francisco Public Library chooses to build there. Roccaforte added that the SFMTA has funding for the preliminary engineering phase and outreach, but funding for construction has yet to be determined.
“Outreach for both efforts will be conducted by the SFMTA in close coordination with the SFCTA's planning process, with the longer-term traffic signal project to be shaped in part by that study's final recommendations,” he said.
The SFCTA is also developing plans for the area, which will be revealed later this yaer.
