Speaking For The Trees
In this week’s newsletter, we check on the state of Ocean Avenue's urban canopy and more.
Have your say on the neighborhood’s newest park.
AvalonBay Communities and BRIDGE Housing will co-host an outdoor open house focused on the design of the park to be set in the center of the 1,100-unit Balboa Reservoir housing development this Saturday morning.
The open-to-the-public event in Unity Plaza beside the Balboa Reservoir project follows an open house in July where residents provided feedback on the design of the park and three buildings. GLS Landscape Architecture has incorporated park feedback into the design that will be presented, according to the development team.
The two-acre “Reservoir Park” will have a children’s play area, community gardens, multipurpose lawn areas and other amenities.
The nearby one-acre open space owned by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will provide a flexible plaza, a play area and pedestrian paseos.
Other notable amenities include a publicly accessible community room overlooking the park and a childcare center.
The project has been designated as an Environmental Leadership project under California State Assembly Bill 900. It will achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the construction and operation of the project.
Interested individuals who cannot attend in person can look at the designs once they are posted to the project website and send in feedback via email, according to the developers.
