The Balboa Reservoir development team is holding a public meeting to share the latest news about the 1,100-unit housing project.
The years-in-the-making 1,100-unit development project on the 17-acre reservoir beside City College of San Francisco is about to start again.
The neighborhood has been invited to Unity Plaza on Sept. 28 for a two-hour-long interactive session with the Balboa Reservoir development team to learn and provide feedback on the first building set to break ground and get an overall update, according to an announcement.
The project was expected to break ground in September 2022 with anticipated move-in for residents in 2024. Once completed, after years of construction, there would be 1,110 units of affordable and market-place housing, a community room and childcare facility, a two-acre park and new pedestrian and bicycle streets.
The project’s first phase was approved in October 2021 and was amended on June 7 of this year to include adding Block A, which would have 159 units of 100% affordable housing.
The development team had been working with various city departments to finalize the infrastructure plans to ensure all residential buildings have access to water, power and other utilities.
The team has also started the schematic design of Building A and has partnered with San Francisco-based architectural, interior design and planning firm BAR Architects & Interiors and San Francisco-based architectural design studio Y.A. Studio.
Last year, there were two project updates: the new management of the lower reservoir parking lot by Douglas Parking and the state and city awarding of $45.7 million for Building A.
