Speaking For The Trees
In this week’s newsletter, we check on the state of Ocean Avenue's urban canopy and more.
The nature organization is providing a jam-packed event with music, food, planting prep and more.
Bring your gardening gloves and lend a hand to A Living Library for community fun at a clean up at San Miguel Early Childhood Education Center and Denman Middle School on Saturday.
It is a part of their summer-long effort to clean up garden areas at the schools and along Seneca, Oneida and Cayuga avenues. They are providing live music, a face-painting station for children and a workstation for kids to plant vegetable starts that will be replanted in Denman and San Miguel schools once their garden programs restart in the Fall.
“We are asking the community to bring their work gloves and help us finish the cleanup after we play,” ALL's Executive Director China Bushell said in an email. “Our hope is to continue this collaborative effort annually with more organizations joining us because Community Pride [and] Beautification is important.”
This event is presented in partnership with the Excelsior Collaborative, the Oceanview-Merced Heights-Ingleside Community Collaborative and Good Rural.
Location: 300 Seneca Ave. and 241 Oneida Ave.
Date: Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
